It’s Cool Until Dawn Is Coming To PC, But Why The PS5 ‘Remake’?
Interactive horror you could already play with a DualSense controller.
According to PlayStation.Blog, the remake will reportedly not “alter the events of that fateful night,” but only improve its mechanics and cinematics with Unreal Engine 5’s ray-tracing, rendering, and general graphical power over the original’s engine.
Returning players are in for a treat with new collectibles, totems, an overhauled prologue, improved motion capture, sound design, and modern camera controls.
In other words, everything will look and sound prettier as you somehow fail to protect every character.

PlayStation Community Hits Back At Sony After Quietly Increasing Game Prices Again
PlayStation owners aren’t too happy with Sony amid yet another gaming price hike.
The original game was a testament to the PS4’s technical prowess, even incorporating the controller’s ability to detect slight movements into the “Don’t Move” mechanic, where a twitch could mean life or death.
The remake features a teased alternative “Stay Calm” feature that uses “third party peripherals that do not feature a gyroscope or for players who prefer a different challenge.”
With Until Dawn joining the long line of PlayStation exclusives making their way to PC, this release highlights a growing trend that few would have believed possible 10 years ago.
PlayStation Continues To Revamp Last-Gen Hits
Horizon Zero Dawn‘s PC port started the avalanche in 2020 and has since influenced titles like Insomniac’s Spiderman and Santa Monica Studio’s God of War and God of War: Ragnarok, among others, but this policy change is not done out of Sony’s good heart.
Though it takes at least 2–3 years for a PlayStation exclusive to come to PC, it eventually does, and that seems to be more design than coincidence. Sony CEO Herman Hulst’s “Strategic Approach” is to let PC players get a game, and then assume they’re “going to be very interested in playing, for example, sequels on the PlayStation platform.”
Suppose Until Dawn‘s Remaster becomes your favorite game on PC and suddenly a sequel is announced. You either buckle and get a PS5 or wait a few years.
Corporate politics aside, we can only be glad that Until Dawn’s remaster on PC and PS5 will scare more people to hell and back.
With preorders starting Aug. 21, it remains to be seen if those who have already finished the game once deem it worthy of a brand-new purchase.
