Peripheral Maker Will Make Sure You Can Stream On The Go Using The Switch 2

When Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 earlier this month, one of the surprises was the announcement of a camera for the console that can be used to stream games with friends, along with more social features that can be used for gaming.

While the camera revealed by Nintendo was something gamers could use while the console is docked, one peripheral maker has made a portable camera attachment, so that even if you’re using the console as a handheld, you’ll still be able to stream, video chat with friends and so on.

According to statements in a recent publisher FAQ, some Switch 2 games appear to be backward compatible with the original.

The peripheral is being made by accessory-maker HORI, and will be available when the Switch 2 releases on June 5 — at least in Japan (thanks, Nintendo Everything). It’s currently priced at 3,618 yen, which is about $25 in today’s exchange rate. The camera attaches to the top of the console in handheld mode, though its resolution is much lower at 480p, while Nintendo’s official camera accessory can output 1080p.

The major use for the camera will be for GameChat more than anything else. GameChat, is a fs eature for the upcoming consoles that lets gamers stream games while playing with friends. Players can also chat while playing, and there are also games that will take advantage of it too.

One Major Problem May Stop InZOI From Appearing On Nintendo Switch 2

The game’s director would love to see a Nintendo Switch version of InZOI, but needs to know something first.

Of course, peripherals won’t be much use if you can’t get a console it’s meant for. Given how GameStop and other retailer websites just melted when pre-orders kicked off, and the rumor that GameStop won’t have a lot of consoles at hand at launch, expect to have a hard time getting one at launch.

Even at a high price, Nintendo’s Switch 2 is expected to be the biggest console launch of all-time, which we wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

No word on if this camera attachment by HORI will come stateside, but given how prolific the company is with releasing accessories, I woulld wager it would.
