At today’s dedicated State of Play for 007: First Light, IO Interactive has finally given us our first look at gameplay for the spy action game, which isn’t a short clip, but one that shows off an entire mission.
Not only that, but the studio also revealed the game’s release date, and as one might expect, it’ll be out before Grand Theft Auto 6, which releases in May 2026.
Players can expect to take up the mantle of Bond on May 27, 2026, on consoles and PC.
007: First Light Gameplay Showcases Gunfights, Traversal, And More
The gameplay presentation lasts for more than 30 minutes, and we get to see bits of vehicular gameplay, gunplay, and even the traversal, which might remind you of the Uncharted franchise.
Aside from the gameplay debut and the release date, IO Interactive has also revealed the pre-order bonuses players can expect, which include an auto upgrade to the Deluxe Edition that will grant 24-hour early access.

007: First Light will also have a pricey Collector’s Edition called the Legacy Edition, which includes a Golden Gun figurine, though it’ll cost you quite a fair bit.
With about two months between 007: First Light’s release and GTA 6, this is a prime release window for IO Interactive’s first game in its 007 franchise. Releasing weeks before GTA 6 might prompt people to hold off on buying it to save their money for Rockstar’s mega-hit title, especially since its price point is rumored to be higher than your standard $70 price point.
IO Interactive Releasing after GTA 6 is definitely out of the question, since not only will people have less money to spend on other games, but given how massive GTA 6 is, most gamers won’t have time to play other titles either.
