If you have reached the Battahl area and have been exploring the Olta’ Battahl Coastline the region shares with Vernworth, then chances are you may have discovered the final currency type – WLC. In this guide, we’ll explain what it is and how to earn it as fast as possible.

What Is WLC?

Like the other experience types and currencies, WLC is an acronym that stands forWyrmslife Crystal. Naturally, in a game with Dragon in the title, dragons exist in the world and no doubt hold highly valuable rewards when defeated. Dragons are also known more commonly as drakes in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and both dragons and drakes fall under the umbrella term – Wrym, hence Wyrmslife Crystal.

You’ll likely not encounter many of these crystals early on in the game since drakes can be pretty tricky to defeat with just your party alone. However, you will learn more of their significance when you first visit The Dragonforged, who is located in a small enclave on the Olta’ Battahl Coastline.

How To Earn WLC

As The Dragonforged will explain, when you kill a drake, their blood mixed with your essence will create the Wyrmslife Crystals. So, in order to earn as many as possible, you’ll need to hunt down the many drakes located in Vernworth and Battahl and claim their WLC.

Typically, each drake will drop anywhere from 15-20 WLC. Although this will be enough for a single purchase or upgrade (mentioned below), you’ll most likely need to take down at least two drakes in order to continue the story and get some of the more valuable things The Dragonforged has to offer. How To Use WLC

As a former Arisen himself, The Dragonforged will take your Wrymslife Crystals and use them to enhance your weapons and armor an extra fourth level. This is a unique offering that no other blacksmith can provide. Furthermore, since you are enhancing your weapons and armor with drake parts, the effects are a bit different than what you’d expect from a regular blacksmith. While WLC can be used to improve the defensive capabilities of your armor, it won’t typically improve the damage of your weapon. That is because the primary stat it affects is actually the weight, with the upgrade significantly reducing the overall weight of the item.

Smithing WLC Costs

Head Armor / Leg Armor: 5 WLC
Chest Armor: 10 WLC
Weapons / Shields: 15 WLC

In addition to the smithing upgrades, The Dragonforged will also offer a few select items for you to purchase using the Wrymslife Crystals. Each item is highly valuable, but the Portcrystal and Unmaking Arrow are definitely more unique and only purchasable through The Dragonforged, unlike the Ferrystones he also offers. We highly recommend saving for the Portcrystal first, as they can be very hard to come by in the game.
