There is no denying that Counter-Strike 2 failed to have the intended impact, resulting in a game that is little more than Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with some more bugs, bells, and whistles.
The power vacuum left behind by the Counter-Strike flop is unprecedented, and as usual, it is Epic Games that tries to maneuver to exploit the situation.
The Fortnite Team revealed today that is releasing Fortnite Ballistic on December 11. This is a first-person, 5v5 mode for Fortnite that looks like a cartoonish Counter-Strike competitor, but it could well work out.
What Is Coming December 11?
Fortnite Ballistic is coming out pretty barren, but Epic insists this is on purpose.
The early access version will have one map, Skyline 10, which depicts a built-up urban area inspired by East Asian suburbia.

Battlestate Games is refusing to backdown on the controversial $250 ‘Unheard’ edition.
The weapon selection will have a mix of assault rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, sniper rifles, pistols, and different grenade types.
Most of the guns previewed by the Fortnite team are just reskins of the regular weapons present in Fortnite Battle Royale.
According to the announcement, the idea is to get Ballistic out, and then make new additions based on player feedback.
What Are The Fortnite Ballistic Game Modes?
In a totally-not-Counter-Strike-copy way, Fortnite Ballistic will have the teams playing attacker and defender, swapping sides every 6 rounds. The first team to reach 7 wins takes the match.
The attacking team’s goal is to take a Rift Point Device (which is definitely not the Counter-Strike bomb reskinned) to points conveniently named A and B.
The defenders need to either kill the attacking team, stall them until the timer runs out, or defuse the Rift Point Device if it’s been planted.

Like any competitive multiplayer game, you can choose whether you want to join a ranked or unranked queue, with rank and time penalties for ragequitting on the former so watch those caffeine levels before connecting.
For groups, the matchmaking in Fortnite Ballistic will use the party’s average rating, whereas ranked servers of Fortnite Battle Royale and Reload use the party’s highest member rank.
Last but certainly not least, the developers have confirmed that crosshairs are not going anywhere, with options to show predicted bullet spread and recoil.
If well-executed, Fortnite Ballistic has a good chance to make a dent into the Counter-Strike player base, but only time will tell.
