Intergalactic Won’t Be Out In 2026 Report States, But It Is Playable Now
The news that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet won’t be out in 2026 comes from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who posted on ResetEra stating, “I’m pretty sure I said they were both going to be very early teases. Neither of those games will be out next year.”
The other game Schreier was referring to is The Witcher 4, which seems to be releasing in 2027 at the earliest too.
While Naughty Dog hasn’t shown anything for Intergalactic since its initial reveal, the studio did confirm that it is not only playable right now but also “incredible.”
This was revealed by Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann when speaking to IGN on the red carpet for HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 premiere. Druckmann teased, “I will say we are playing it at the office and it’s incredible,” and added, “It’s really good. I’m so excited to finally put gameplay out into the world and show people about it, because we just showed you the very, very, very tip on the iceberg. The game goes pretty deep beyond that.”

While Naughty Dog hasn’t confirmed when Intergalactic will be released, ruling out the game releasing this year is almost a no-brainer, since no one wants to go toe-to-toe with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6, since it’ll swallow any game releasing near its radius. This is something game publishers are aware of, as some are even waiting for GTA 6’s release date to be revealed before announcing theirs.
For those waiting on Naughty Dog’s next game, the best case scenario is we get a showcase for it this year, though even that seems unlikely since Sony would want to promote games like Ghost of Yotei that are set to be released sooner. At least there’s The Last of Us Season 2 to look forward to next month, right? Druckmann says that while the upcoming season might stray from the game, its “DNA is in there.”
