According to the developers, “A good Hobbit feast takes time, and so does Tales of the Shire! We’re taking a little longer to ensure that every Hobbit, on every platform, can enjoy the same cosy experience. The game will now launch on 29th July 2025.”

Adding to that, the message reads, “We want this game to feel like a warm hug from Middle-earth, and we are making sure that no matter where you play, you’ll feel right at home in The Shire. From foot-hair styles to the fluffiest cakes, every detail will be just right.”

The game was initially set to be released in March 25, which means developer Weta Workshop needed a few more months before pushing this one out the door.

Tales Of The Shire Feels Like A Step Backwards For This Lord Of The Rings Fan

I want one GOOD Lord of the Rings game, not a bunch of half-baked ones.

If you’re not familiar with Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game, it’s not one where you’re going to battle Sauron and his minions, as this is more of a life sim where food is important, and so is your little hobbit hole.

The game’s official description reads, “Create your own Hobbit as you set forth in Bywater. Though not yet established as an official village in Hobbiton, play a part in helping the quaint town flourish. Greet comfort at the door as you decorate your own Hobbit hole, tend to your garden, fish at the clear ponds, forage wild fruits and herbs, or trade with townsfolks. Prepare homemade meals to share with fellow Hobbits and foster relationships.”

For those tired of slashing orcs, and fighting for the One Ring, perhaps this will suit your more cozy gaming lifestyle.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game’s new release date is July 29, and will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC.
