Where To Find Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword
Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword is a Boss weapon and drops after you have defeated Magma Wyrm Makar in Ruin-Strewn Precipice in northern Liurnia of the Lakes. Once you have defeated the boss, this weapon will drop for you.
Magma Wyrm Makar has a high health pool but most of his attacks are transparent leaving you with plenty of attack windows. If you wait for the attack opportunity and keep your distance when he does his annoying magma attacks, you can easily beat him.
Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword Overview
Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword is a Curved Greatsword which is one of the strongest weapon types in Elden Ring. It is one of the best weapons for dealing additional Fire damage during combat. This weapon has a unique R2 ability which is shared with that of the Omen Cleaver weapon.

Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword is mainly a Strength-based weapon with scaling in Faith as well as slight scaling in Dexterity. It requires 24 points in Strength, 15 points in Dexterity, and 18 points in Faith to be used.
Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword starts with a scaling of C in Strength which goes all the way to B upon upgrading the weapon using Somber Smithing Stones. Faith scaling also starts with D and goes to B while Dexterity remains at D.

Stats To Focus
- First Priority: Strength and Faith
- Second Priority: Endurance and Vigor
Being a Strength-focused weapon, you should focus on Strength the most if you are planning to use Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword. Faith should be prioritized next; However, it would be beneficial if you could keep your Faith at 25 first before completely focusing on Strength as it will allow you access to some great Incantations like “Golden Vow” and “Flame, Grant Me Strength.”
The weapon skill “Magma Guillotine” consumes only 20 FP so you will be fine even if you do not focus on your Mind stat. Therefore, you can focus on Vigor for increased Health and Endurance for increased Stamina.
Synergetic Weapons & Incantations
Since Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword is a heavy weapon and it deals massive damage on its own you do not need any other weapon as long as you are using Scalesword. However, since you are increasing your Faith you can make use of Incantations, especially Fire-based Incantations.
The best Sacred Seals to use with this are the Giant’s Seal and Dragon Communion Seal as both of these Seals in some way boost Fire Incantations. For Incantations, you can use any Fire-based offensive Incantations, with “Flame, Grant Me Strength” and “Golden Vow” being some of the best for increasing your damage.

The Talismans for this build will focus on increasing your Fire damage.
- Shard of Alexander is a great Talisman which increases the damage of our weapons’ skills by a flat 15 percent.
- Carian Filigreed Crest lowers the FP consumed by skills which will allow us to take advantage of Nebula even more.
- Fire Scorpion Charm boosts our Fire damage by 12 percent, this will increase the damage of both our charged attacks as well as weapon Skill. This Talisman however increases the Physical damage received by 10 percent.
- The final Talisman is up to the player’s preference. You can use Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman which will boost Physical damage negation countering the adverse effects of Fire Scorpion Charm. Erdtree’s Favour is also a good option.
