Even if Microsoft didn’t stop support for 32-bit software, it was just a matter of time until the Origin store was closed instead of the EA App.

According to EA, the EA App, “is our enhanced platform for PC games” and adds “Optimized for the best user experience, it lets you easily find what you need and get into the game quicker than ever.” Those claims are debatable, but hey, an upgrade is an upgrade, right?

If you’re wondering what will happen to your current games and account in Origin. EA has confirmed it will transfer to the EA App.

“Yes, your account and games will transfer to the EA app. Log in to the EA app with the same account you use for Origin. When you log in, any games you had on Origin will be ready to play,” the publisher notes.

Anything players saved through Origin’s cloud will also be transferred, though EA cannot promise that mods will carry over. Players will need to check with the mod creator to verify if it will carry over with the transition.

Publishers most likely want more control over their products on digital storefronts, and there is a very big possibility they earn more, given Epic and Valve do not take a cut from every piece of software sold.
