Aside from adding new heroes and changing gameplay balance, NetEase also wants to shake up Marvel Rivals’ Competitive mode.

The first half of Season 1 will conclude on Feb. 21, after which all ranks will be locked in. Once the mid-season rolls in, some changes are on the way, though it’s debatable whether they’re good changes or not.

Marvel Rivals Competitive Changes Will Be Noticed At The Start Of Each Season

The biggest changes incoming include (via NetEase):

Every player’s rank now drops six divisions at the start of each season (it used to be seven), and four divisions at every mid-season.
Rank reward Costume and Crest of Honor now refresh every half-season (about 6-7 weeks) instead of each full season.

Once the February 21 mid-season patch rolls around (which should bring in The Thing and Human Torch as new characters), players will be demoted four divisions, and those who rank above Gold will receive the Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin.

Overall, I think the changes are a step in the right direction, since this means players have more to shoot for in each season, though I gather some might not like the constant drops in mid-season and the start of each new season.
