While The Last of Us HBO TV series is getting another season at the very least, the status of the game franchise is in limbo, as no one outside of Naughty Dog knows whether we’re getting another one or if The Last of Us Part II is the end.
If you’re one of the many who are hoping to see the franchise continue, we just received our first sign that it might happen.
The one who gives us hope is the same man who can extinguish it, Naughty Dog boss, Neil Druckmann.
The Last of Us Part III Might Be In The Works
Speaking to entertainment rag Variety, Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann was asked whether more of the studio’s games are planned to be turned into a TV show. While Druckmann answered the question, he also went further than that and confirmed that more projects about The Last of Us are in the works.
Druckmann said, “There’s just ongoing conversations around Uncharted, The Last of Us and now Intergalactic, as far as different adaptations or expansions. With “The Last of Us,” we did a graphic novel, for a while we were working on movie that didn’t work out and it became a TV show. And there’s more stuff happening in The Last of Us world that has not been announced.”
Now, before anyone gets too excited, this could mean a new TV spinoff, a new graphic novel, or even a new game. If it is a new game, given the studio is currently working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, don’t expect The Last of Us Part III anytime soon — and that’s a big if it’s even in the works.
While The Last of Us Part III isn’t confirmed yet, a new season of HBO’s The Last of Us series is. Speaking of which, if you’re one of those who didn’t like how Season 2 ended, the show’s star says haters don’t need to watch Season 3.
Do you think Naughty Dog is working on The Last of Us Part III? More importantly, do you even want to see a third chapter, given Naughty Dog kind of ended Ellie’s story already?
Leave a comment and let us know what kind of The Last of Us project you’d be on board with.
