Original GTA Developer Comments On Latest GTA 6 Trailer

It would be easy enough to say that the recent Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has blown up the internet. From conversations about newly shown-off characters and speculation about the fantastic graphics of Vice City, the new trailer has given fans a lot to talk about.

Because the first trailer was released over a year ago, and Rockstar recently announced that GTA 6 will be delayed until 2026, the latest trailer almost feels like a reward. It finally gives us another peek behind the curtain as we approach the game’s release.

Fan speculation online has also been pretty wild. More attention to the game also means more attention to the massive world Rockstar is creating and a more in-depth examination of Vice City’s beautiful graphics; some fans even freaking out over bubbles in a bottle of beer.

In a recent post to his Bluesky account, one of the original developers behind GTA, Mike Dailly, seemed quite impressed by the recent trailer as well. Not only does he give praise to the beautiful graphics and environmental design, but also to Rockstar for their recent decision to delay the game.

This comment of applause from the original developer is quite honorable, especially considering how some original creators of classic franchises have gotten upset with their franchises’ general direction after their departure.

Most notably, his post explains that “even if they’d released it broken, it’d still have sold hugely.” There’s been quite a large discussion around GTA 6’s launch, with some speculation around a $90 or even $100 price tag.

Yet it goes without saying that, no matter what Rockstar ultimately does, GTA 6 is going to sell like crazy. So, for a company like Rockstar to consistently delay its projects, such as with Red Dead Redemption 2, shows a lot of restraint amid a crazy industry.

The official Grand Theft Auto 6 website has been updated with promo images and new character info that wasn’t shown in the second trailer.

While it may be upsetting to have to wait a few more months for a game, at the very least, it shows that GTA 6 isn’t merely trying to be a cash grab, and Rockstar genuinely still holds a lot of passion for the series, even after cashing in a bit with GTA Online.

In a follow-up reply, Dailly even says that the game “looks very pretty, and they had the right call to delay if there was any issue, be that bugs/gameplay to give gamers the best experience possible.”

Although the mixture of hype and ambition may be giving us a pair of rose-tinted glasses, I think it will ultimately be up to release when we finally get the complete verdict on the game. After all, there’s still much speculation about parts of GTA 6, such as the romance plot and story structure.

Some worry that Rockstar sticks too heavily to its signature linear story and open-world design, but I guess we’ll just have to wait for further gameplay trailers until the game’s release in May 2026.
