While RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio was just released earlier this month, game director Katsura Hashino isn’t resting on his laurels, as the developer is already working on his next project.
This confirmation comes from Hashino himself in an interview with Famitsu (translated by Genki). Hashino was asked what he was thinking of creating next after Metaphor, to which Hashino replied, “Oh, I have already started.” The game director added that he doesn’t think what to do as an individual but as a whole alongside his team stating, “I don’t really think about what to do as an individual. I look at Atlus as a whole and think about what is best for our team to create right now. Firstly, I want the users to be happy, and, as a result, I hope the company will be happy as well. That is how I always work.”
Chances are, given Hashino’s past work, this will be another RPG, and I doubt fans are complaining about that.

All are viable, but they aren’t created equal.
In the same chat with the Japanese mag, Hashino also confirmed that he doesn’t look at user feedback on his games since they’re not good for his mental health. While chances are slim that we’ll hear about this project anytime soon, players should still be busy exploring the United Kingdom of Euchronia now, and if you need help, we have a slew of guides available to guide you in your quest.
If you haven’t played the game yet, go check out our Metaphor: ReFantazio review to see why it might be one of the best Atlus RPGs in years. According to our reviewer Callum Marshall, Metaphor: ReFantazio “is more than just Fantasy Persona, as it carves out a unique identity for itself with a fully realized world, interesting characters, and fun new additions that tweak and galvanize the tried and tested ATLUS formula.”
