Since The Casting of Frank Stone is a choice-based game, every action can make or break a character’s fate in the game. You can even unlock a trophy if you do end up saving everyone. So, here are the actions you need to take across the game’s chapters to save each character.

6 How to Save Sam

The Casting of Frank Stone Sam using the camera to ward off Frank Stone

Sam Green is the first character who goes face-to-face with Frank Stone in the prologue. All you need to do in this chapter is to pass a series of quick time events to rescue a baby and fight off Frank. While Sam won’t die in this chapter, failing to pass any of these QTEs will lead to subtle changes, such as Sam losing an eye or the baby dying, which will worsen Sam’s PTSD in the future.

Chapter 13: Murder Mill

  • Once you pick up the camera from the storm drain, make sure to always keep Frank in frame to pass all quick time events. Failing to do so will lead to Sam getting smacked by Stone in a grotesque yet goofy manner.
  • After escaping the storm drain, you will find Linda. Frank will appear here again, use the camera the same way by keeping Frank in frame to get rid of him one last time. If you fail to do this, Frank will knock out Sam, after which Linda will pick up the camera. You will then have to use the camera as Linda to fight Frank.

Chapter 14: The Massacre of Gerant Manor

  • Once everyone is done watching the film, Frank will come out of the projector screen and grab Stan. After everyone fails to pull him out, Sam, being the gallant one, will have the option to sacrifice himself to save Stan or let him get consumed. Choose the latter to save Sam’s life and sacrifice Stan instead.
  • Out of all the characters in the game, Stan will die no matter what choice you make, and rightfully so, since I found him to be rather annoying at times, so it’s best to let him die at this moment.

5 How To Save Chris

The Casting of Frank Stone Chris using the projector

Chris, is a character for the cinephiles. She is a passionate movie director trying to make a film with her friends and is dead set on getting her film made. As you progress the story through her, you will end up liking her more and will definitely want her to stay alive.

That said, Chris is safe in the early chapters. However, there will come a point where she time travels and bumbles her way to 2024. You can choose to go back to 1980 or stay in 2024. Going back to the 80s is a safer option but will require you to pass a quick time event. If you do intend on keeping Chris in 2024, remember NOT to take the cursed pocket mirror or the talisman in the earlier chapters.

Chapter 10: In the House of Madness

  • If you choose to make Chris return to her time, you will have to pass a button-mashing quick-time event. If you pass this QTE, Chris will safely get back to her time.
  • If you fail this QTE, Stan will choose to help you and get knocked out in the process. Chris will then have two options: help Stan or leave. Choose “Help Stan” to keep Chris safe. However, doing so will also lead to Chris staying in the 2024 timeline.

Chapter 14: The Massacre of Gerant Manor

If Chris chooses to stay in 2024, Chris will end up in the projection room after everyone escapes. Choose the option to push through the screen to make Chris go back to her timeline.

Remember, this option will only work if you’re not carrying the talisman; otherwise, Chris will be killed.

4 How To Save Jaime

The Casting of Frank Stone Jaime choosing to confront or flee Frank

Remember the baby Sam rescues in the first chapter? This is who he grew up to be, Jaime Rivera. While it may be interesting at first to see where the baby we rescued ended up being, Jaime is quite a by-the-books character and doesn’t seem to have much character development.

Unlike other characters, Jaime’s life can be in danger pretty early on. You need to take precautions early on to ensure he stays alive.

Chapter 3: A Curiosity on Main Street

  • As Bonnie comes into the garage to tell everyone about the camera, choose the “empathetic” dialogue option and ask Bonnie for $20.
  • As you walk down the street as Chris, you can pick the drugstore or the curiosity shop. Pick the drugstore and make Jaime use his acting skills to haggle. Jaime will then use the money to get firecrackers, which will come in handy later.

Chapter 5: The Phantom of Cedar Mill

Frank Stone will confront Jaime. You will then have two options: flee or confront Frank with the firecrackers. Running away will damage Jaime’s relationship with Chris, so it’s best to use the firecrackers you got in Chapter 3 and confront Frank.

Chapter 13: Murder Mill

  • As you explore the storm drain as Sam, you will eventually find Jaime impaled in a side tunnel. Use the camera to weaken Frank by keeping him in the frame and save Jaime.
  • If you fail to do this, what will follow is a gnarly scene where Frank will knock out Sam and shove his hands into Jaime’s mouth to rip his jaw apart.

3 How To Save Linda

The Casting of Frank Stone Adult Linda talking to Sam

Linda is a character you see throughout different timelines with varied looks depending on the choices you make. The first time you meet the adult Linda, she is asking for a ride.

You might be a bit apprehensive of her the first time you meet her, questioning whether even to give her a ride. However, as you get to know her, she starts growing on you and is one of the best characters in the game, be it her past self or future self.

Chapter 13: Murder Mill

  • As Sam finds Linda in the storm drain, Frank Stone comes back and attacks Sam. If you fail the quick time event with the camera to ward off Frank, Linda will pick up the camera.
  • If this happens, Linda will automatically pick up the camera and try to weaken Frank. Remember to keep Frank in the frame and don’t forget to reload the camera film.
  • If you fail to do either of these, Frank will grab Linda by the throat, after which you will get one last chance to save Linda’s life with another QTE. If you fail this quick time event, however, Frank will instantly snap Linda’s neck and kill her.

Chapter 14: The Massacre of Gerant Manor

  • As mentioned in Sam’s part, sacrifice Stan to save the rest of the characters’ lives. After this, Frank will emerge and everyone will run for their lives.
  • Madi and Linda will then stumble upon an elevator that needs power to work. Open the door right beside the elevator to find the generator.
  • You will then need to find two generator parts to get it working. Both parts can be found inside the generator room. Get the parts to the generator and pass a series of QTEs to repair the generator before Frank gets to Linda and Madi.
  • Once the generator is fixed, Linda and Madi will run towards the elevator. At this point, Frank will come back and knock Madi out. You will then have the option to go for the elevator or help Madi. Choose the option to help Madi.
  • If Linda chooses to go for the elevator, Frank will overpower her, stab her in the gut and behead her as we see both Linda and Madi lying dead on the ground. That said, this is the worst choice.

2 How To Save Madi

The Casting of Frank Stone Madi meets Chris

Madi is a calm and composed character who is down to help anyone who is in danger. This is something that instantly strikes a chord with you as you play as her, which would obviously want you to keep her alive till the end.

Chapter 8: Mystery Manor

  • As Madison enters the horologium chamber, you will need to pass a skill check to open it. If Madison fails this skill check twice, she will die, so make sure to pass it to keep her alive.
  • If Madi fails this quick time event, she will get vaporised by the green energy field on the ground and reduced to mere muscle mass.

Chapter 12: Closing the Noose

  • Once you have escaped the horologium chamber, you will see a pendant on a table. Do not pick this up, as this will lead Madi to certain death.
  • Choosing to keep the pendant can be one of the most impactful choices you make in the game and you definitely shouldn’t waste that choice on Madi who’s easily one of the most likable characters in the game.

You can choose to give the pendant to Stan, which will lead to his death. However, it’s best to avoid picking it up at all, as you will need Stan’s death later to save other characters.

Chapter 14: The Massacre of Gerant Manor

  • After Stan’s death in the film screening room, everyone will run. If Madi is alone, she must repair the generator herself to get the elevator running. Remember to repair it within five minutes following the same steps as Linda, or Frank will kill Madi.
  • Once the generator is repaired and Madi is running towards the elevator, you will get the prompt to go up or down. Choose the prompt to go up to keep Madi alive.
  • After taking the elevator to the upper floor, you will find Sam in the Atrium. You will then be faced with two choices: flee or help Sam. Don’t be a hero and choose the option to flee to keep Madison alive. If you choose to help Sam, Frank will grab Madi by the throat and snap her neck.

1 Which characters are beyond saving?

The Casting of Frank Stone Bonnie dies

Stan and Bonnie are destined to die no matter what you do. Watching Bonnie die is really sad as her character and personality are perfect additions to the Dead By Daylight universe.

Sadly, Bonnie will die eventually in chapter 13, while Stan dies in chapter 14. Out of the vast roster of characters in the game, there is no way to save these two.
