Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s standalone character creator is freely available anywhere you can purchase the game. You can grab it right on the game’s Steam store page, for example.
It comes with all the features found in the full game, and like with so many other demo and demo-adjacent products, you can carry your progress into the full game.
Since this news comes to us as part of BioWare’s Dragon Age Day celebrations, it doesn’t come alone. In their blog post, BioWare wanted to highlight how people have been using the character creator since the game’s release.
We’ve been so excited to see the many different Rooks you’ve created since the game launched over a month ago. In celebration of you, our community, we’ve assembled a special collection of some of our favorite Rooks that you’ve shared with us along the way.
On top of that, Bioware also revealed some new in-game content – something that fans of Dragon Age 2 may be especially fond of. You can dress up your Rook as Dragon Age 2’s Hawke, complete with armor, body paint, and the nose blood smear.
Once you’ve installed the latest patch, you can find these cosmetics in the Lighthouse after completing the mission: “The Singing Blade”.
The Many Celebrations of BioWare
BioWare is a studio known for… well, several things at this point, but among them is their tradition of celebrating “days” for their major releases.
Dragon Age Day, and the more famous N7 Day for Mass Effect, have all been chances for BioWare to give something special to their fans.

Since this year’s N7 day was so close to Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s release, that holiday was something of a celebration of both games, with Mass Effect inspired armor added to Rook’s wardrobe, much in the same way Hawke’s armor arrived today.
A previous Dragon Age day featured some new short stories from the Dragon Age universe, written by four different authors.
Whether today’s Dragon Age Day gifts disappoint or outperform relative to short stories will likely be a matter of personal taste, but either way, it’s hard to say that BioWare doesn’t care about their franchises and their fans.
