Monday was a holiday in the United States: Memorial Day. Usually, that makes for a slow news day. However, somebody on the Assassin’s Creed social media team decided to have a little bit of fun.
On the surface, the post seems innocent enough. It’s part of a meme that quotes a chain of posts saying the same thing: “unfortunately you’ve lost your memory.”

The posts also reference a game that people would love to play again. The choice here, though, is an interesting one because it’s been the source of rumors and speculation of a remake.
Naturally, the comments on the post are going wild. People seem to be 100% on board with a remake of one of the franchise’s best Assassin’s Creed games. Now again, this could be just the social media team having some fun with a trend. We see it happen all the time. Then again, the choice of Black Flag there could be 100% intentional. Plus, why would you revive an old trend from two months ago?
Rumors Of An Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Remake Have Been Circulating For Months
This isn’t the first time there’s been speculation of a remake or remaster for Black Flag. We know that details for a remake have leaked online. Ubisoft is already working on “multiple” Assassin’s Creed remakes.
That part isn’t speculation; it’s been confirmed by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot himself. “Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich,” he said in a blog post in 2024.

Given Black Flag’s success and popularity, it’s the perfect choice for a remake. Updating and modernizing an already good game is a great way to regain interest in the franchise and showcase a core Assassin’s Creed experience to a new audience.
With Summer Games Fest approaching, we may hear news of the Black Flag remake sooner rather than later. Now, I’m not saying that it’s a lock, but hey, at some point, Ubisoft needs to announce these remakes.
