The console port of Riot Games’ smash-hit competitive shooter has been one of the most anticipated games on console. The waiting ends now, as Valorant’s four years of PC exclusivity have concluded today.
Without any prior warning or announcement, Riot Games has shadow-dropped Valorant’s console version today, and the title is now free to play on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Last month, the California-based game developer launched an open beta period that was available to all players around the world. Although the console version lacked some of the maps that are present in the PC version, it seems like it garnered positive feedback and was enough to get the green light for the full release. A month after the open beta, Valorant is now available to console players in selected regions.
Although Esports enthusiasts were hunting for any tips about a release date, Valorant appeared on consoles a few hours ago without a single warning from Riot. While that’s great news for the game’s fans, it’s worth noting that Valorant’s console version does not have crossplay support for PC yet.
