Tony Hawk Campaigning For More Remasters Of His Series

Summary

  • Tony Hawk is open to a remaster of Tony Hawk Underground, but it’s not up to him when it happens
  • The release of a Tony Hawk Underground remaster depends on how well THPS 3+4 sells
  • Expect microtransactions in a possible THUG remaster if Activision decides to release it

While Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 isn’t even out yet, legendary skateboarding icon Tony Hawk is already game for Activision to release a remaster of another beloved Tony Hawk title.

However, even if he’s all set to do it, Tony Hawk doesn’t have the last say when another skateboarding game will be remastered.

Tony Hawk To Campaign For More Remasters

Once the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 set of games is out this July, will we see Tony Hawk’s Underground (THUG) be the next game set to be released? Apparently, it’s not a sure thing just yet. Speaking to ScreenRant, Tony Hawk was asked if there are any plans to keep going with remasters with the next in line being Tony Hawk Underground.

Tony Hawk said, “I always have aspirations. It’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me.” Hawk clarified that a Tony Hawk Underground remastered hasn’t been discussed, given Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 hasn’t been released yet.

While Activision hasn’t said anything, the chances of seeing Tony Hawk Underground get remastered are higher if THPS 3+4 sells well. I mean, it wouldn’t make much sense for Activision to release a remaster for a series that doesn’t sell well, right?

Out of the way, GTA 6.

Tony Hawk Underground was released in October 2003 for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube consoles. It was a huge step up from the previous Tony Hawk games because it allowed players to create custom characters they could play as in the game’s story mode.

If Activision does push for a THUG remaster release, expect the publisher to take advantage of the game’s customization for microtransaction elements, which is something we expect in all sports video games nowadays.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will skate out on July 11 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC.
