GTA V Online: 10 Best Heists Ranked

The wild streets of GTA 5 and its online counterpart are filled with players trying to make a boatload of money, whether it be by committing store robberies for some loose change or by engaging in full-fledged businesses.

But if you’re really looking to stack some serious cash, nothing beats a good old-fashioned heist. That said, not every score is worth running back as some are a one-and-done deal, while others will test your patience and sanity as you grind for perfection.

Each heist offers a different experience, depending on whether you’re a lone wolf or part of a seasoned crew. Regardless, they are easily the best thing GTA V and Online have to offer.

Every GTA Game (& DLC) Ranked By Story

From Niko’s arrival in Liberty City to CJ’s adventures in San Andreas, here is every story in the GTA series, ranked.

As someone who has spent countless hours grinding these heist missions in Los Santos, sometimes with my gang and at others solo, I have grown fond of some of them more than others based on how rewarding an experience they offer to the player.

The Fleeca Job

A Small Start

Fleeca Job Heist

The Fleeca Job is the first heist you’ll tackle in GTA Online, and it keeps things nice and simple. It’s a small-scale, two-man bank robbery with help from Lester. All you need is an apartment to get things rolling. From stealing a getaway car to cracking the vault, it’s a quick setup that ends with an epic police chase and a dramatic escape, thanks to a perfectly timed lift from the Cargobob.

The whole thing takes less than 30 minutes to knock out, and you can walk away with up to 250Gs. Not bad for a rookie job.

When I was new to the streets of Los Santos, the Fleeca Job was one of the first missions that really hooked me. That final getaway felt cinematic, and the whole thing was just plain fun from start to finish.

The Jewel Store Job

Las Santo’s Ultimate Heist

The Jewel Store Job

For this one, Michael needs serious cash as his life is falling apart. That’s when Lester asks him to rob a small jewelry store with a high payout.

The choice is yours, whether you wanna go loud or take the smart route, but ultimately, you will end up on a bike with dozens of cops chasing you. The heist caught people off guard at the time; it was new, and the bike chase in the end was the real boost, keeping players locked in, and was built tight from start to finish.

Even though the heist was only 10 to 15 minutes long, it laid the foundation for many future heists. I speak for all of us when I say we loved the idea of robbing and dipping with heavy money while being chased by the law.

The Series A Funding

Drug Takeover

Series A Funding Heist

Trevor’s aiming to boss up the drug empire, so he asks you to take out rival gangs stopping him from selling the drugs. The Series A Funding is a 4-man heist where you complete a series of missions to eliminate different crews, allowing Trevor to sell without any heat.

The entire heist is full of action and laughs. Its five prep missions are something out of the ordinary, such as stealing cocaine from a party yacht or working as a garbage man to clean out a different type of trash.

The finale is old school: hold the line job against the gangs we fought, and the payout is only 500K, but it goes to show you sometimes the prep missions can make the heist worth it.

Just when I thought GTA wouldn’t get any wilder, Trevor shows up out of nowhere, but I can’t say I wasn’t glad to see this maniac. His missions were fun, and while it may be the last time we see him in the series, I certainly hope otherwise.

7

The Prison Break

Prison Break heist

You are a menace on the streets, and that is why Agent 14 will contact you to break out a high-value prisoner from the penitentiary. The Prison Break Heist is a 4-man job that requires solid teamwork, a good pilot, and skilled players, as everyone has a job to do.

One flies the getaway ride, the other supports the crew from afar, while the rest two break out the prisoner amidst hordes of guards. The setup may be slow at the start, but the finale is worth every second, and the 500k payout isn’t that bad.

I always join a Prison Break lobby when the notification pops up. It’s a wild heist packed with action and rich content. Playing it for the first time and failing just at the last free-fall jump was the funniest thing for me and the gang at 3 A.M.

6

The Diamond Casino Heist

The Big Score

Diamond Casino heist

The Diamond Casino is the biggest and hardest heist in the game, and it can be played as soon as you buy the Arcade from Maze Bank. The goal is simple: breach the Casino’s vault and leave with cash for days, but how? With over 3 approaches and 30 unique prep missions, stay low or blast off, the choice is all yours.

All the ways to make your second trip to Los Santos memorable.

It’s a tough job, the security’s tight, time is limited, and the getaway feels like the hardest part, yet it is hands down one of the most entertaining heists in the game. You can secure up to 3.6 million and share it among the 4 players who completed it, or keep it all for yourself if the gang agrees.

I always experience something new when replaying the casino heist; there is always a different way to complete it, and the satisfaction of finally reaching the buyers after an endless police chase is amazing.

5

The Humane Lab Raid

Silent Storm

The Humane Labs Raid

You and your gang are notorious for breaking in and taking stuff, so Lester tasks you with snatching a classified file in The Humane Labs, a secret facility illegally experimenting on humans and animals.

The heist has a different vibe from others; it leads the player to a stealth approach, skipping past the big blasts, which makes it stand out from the rest. It’s a 4-player heist with nutty prep missions and a cinematic Finale, although the payout is only 500k, it’s the combination of stealth with classic GTA mayhem that’s crazy to go through.

You will probably rage quit a lot, because I definitely did, the number of times we failed the stealth part is insane because of not having proper communication, but push through it cuz the finale is pretty solid.

4

The Paleto Score

Armored Suits And Chaos

The Paleto Bay Score

In the story mode, Trevor, Franklin, and Michael need quick, untraceable cash to get out of a certain debt, so they plan to rob the bank of Paleto Bay. But what was supposed to be another in-and-out robbery turns into a bloodbath as waves of police and SWAT forces try to stop 3 guys decked out in armor and miniguns mowing down anyone in their path.

In the entire GTA V story mode, there is no other mission as chaotic and nuts as this one, but that’s what makes it dope.

When I first started playing this mission, I didn’t expect it to end in an all-out war, and I am so glad it did. The insane amount of killings and action made it worth every second.

3

The Doomsday Heist

All Out Chaos

Doomsday Heist

The Doomsday Heist is a 3-part sequence that involves preventing a war from happening, saving the world from destruction, protecting the government, and capturing spies.

It’s a lot to soak up because the Doomsday heist is collectively the longest run in GTA Online, with each act connecting to the others and featuring individual finales. They are loaded with violent missions, out-of-this-world vehicles, and new weapons that keep you on your toes and coming back for multiple runs.

The most fun I’ve had playing a GTA is when completing the doomsday heist with my friends—it’s hard to pull off, the story has twists and turns on every block, and the replay value is solid.

2

The Pacific Standard Job

The Grand Finale

The Pacific Standard

The Pacific Standard job is the fifth and final score in the GTA Online heist series. It’s packed with intense gunfights, cool getaway routes, and stacks of cash.

Lester calls you in to rob the biggest and most secure bank in Los Santos, meaning you and your gang will have to barge into the bank, control the crowd, and fill your bags with 1.2 million cash, all while fighting an army of police outside. It’s a 4-man heist with chaotic prep missions, and an end worthy of being the climax to an entire series of heists.

For me, wearing masks and taking over a bank gave the most authentic feeling of a bank robbery, unlike the others in the series. The Pacific Standard is chaotic and a beautiful sendoff to a criminal saga.

1

Cayo Perico

The Best Solo Score

Cayo Perico

Cayo Perico is the greatest Heist GTA Online has to offer, and probably the most played too, as it’s a piece of cake to pull off.

Cayo Perico is an island near San Andreas. You are tasked with snagging the main prize from El Rubio’s Vault. The best part? Cayo’s is a solo grind, meaning no waiting on your crew and no random trolls.

It’s the best solo hustle in GTA Online’s lineup as it offers 2 million dollars on each run that can be completed in 45 minutes. If you play it enough times, you can wrap up the finale without shooting a bullet; it’s that easy.

I don’t find Cayo Perico the best just because of the payout, but because it is genuinely a good and entertaining heist, you get easy and not-so-annoying preps, the finale’s dope, and you can re-run it an hour later.
