A well-known modder by the name of Arthmoor, is stirring up the pot in the modding community, and it’s not the first time. Arthmoor launched the Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch – UORP on April 29th, just one week after the game launched, and the description states the update includes “Hundreds of script, quest, NPC, object, item, dialogue and other bug fixes.”

Oblivion Remastered sets a new standard for those who seek to follow in their footsteps.
A recent post in the r/oblivionmods subreddit, by Reddit user NingenBakudan, advises gamers to be skeptical about the patch, claiming that it has not been properly tested and could cause more problems than it fixes. The post’s headline reads: “Warning, Don’t use Arthmoor’s new OBRE patch, potential risks to stability” and the comment section doesn’t seem surprised at all.
Arthmoor is a verified mod author for NexusMods, and has released unofficial patches for Skyrim, Fallout 4, Starfield, the original Oblivion, and now Oblivion Remastered. There have been tense back-and-fourths between Arthmoor and the modding community in the past, and it’s easy to see that tensions are still high.
“Considering his influence, this could cause major disruption in the modding community. It’s essential that as many people as possible ignore his mods,” said reddit user NingenBakudan.
After making comparisons between the new unofficial Oblivion Remastered patch and the original Oblivion unofficial patch, NingenBakuden came to the conclusion that “This “patch” was ported using xEdit without proper testing, and we have no idea what kind of impact it may have in a real environment.”
The post has hundreds of comments, many of which portray a long-lasting feud between Arthmoor and members of the modding community. “He really did just “port” over the old patch hastily just so he could stake a monopoly on unofficial patches again, huh?” said Reddit user HylianMedia.
The concern of the modding community members is that Arthmoor may be pushing out untested patches, just to be the first, and suggests it could have negative effects.
“It breaks more things than it fixes. Read the comments it causes a bunch of crashes.” Said reddit user Sihnar.
Arthmoor has made a response, stating that “claims that the UORP is a direct unmodified port of the original [Unofficial Oblivion Patch] are incorrect.”
“As far as staking an early claim, that’s not what we’re about on the project. It never has been. We do what we do because we love Bethesda games as much as everyone else does and we want to have a better experience while playing them.” (Via PCGamer)
There are a lot of mods available for Oblivion Remastered already, and it’s always a good idea to be mindful that sometimes these mods can cause unexpected crashes and bugs.
